Revised documents for pharmacy interns and preceptors published

18 Dec 2015

The Pharmacy Board of Australia (the Board) today published revised documents for pharmacy interns and preceptors.

These documents include:

  • Intern pharmacist and preceptor guide
  • Frequently asked questions for pharmacy interns and preceptors, and
  • Pharmacy oral examination (practice) candidate guide.

The revised Intern pharmacist and preceptor guide contains information relating to the internship period, to assist interns, preceptors and other supervising pharmacists in understanding their roles and responsibilities during this period. It is a combined document for interns and preceptors, replacing the Board’s previously published Intern Guide and Preceptor Guide.

Further information on the internship period is included in the revised FAQ, particularly in relation to the required steps for a pharmacy graduate to gain provisional registration and have their supervised practice approved by the Board before the period of supervised practice can commence.

The revised Pharmacy oral examination (practice) candidate guide contains new information on:

  • candidate eligibility with reference to the validity of written examination results and closing dates for applications for an oral examination
  • examination rules
  • special consideration for the oral examination, and
  • appeal closing dates.

The revised documents and further information is available on the Internships section of this website, including an information video for pharmacy students and graduates which was recently launched by the Board.
