Today is World Pharmacists Day, recognising the crucial contribution pharmacists make to stronger, more sustainable health systems.
This year’s theme, ‘Think Health, Think Pharmacist’, highlights the central role pharmacists play in supporting safe, cost-effective, and accessible care.
Pharmacy Board Chair Dr Cameron Phillips said this role continues to grow, with pharmacists often at the frontline of community health and wellbeing.
‘This is not only through pharmacist’s expertise in medicines and health advice, but also through their expanding roles in vaccination, health screening, prescribing and stewardship initiatives,’ he said.
Dr Phillips acknowledged the dedication of Australia’s 40,000 plus pharmacists, for their tireless work to meet the needs of their communities.
‘World Pharmacists Day is a chance to celebrate your achievements and recognise your ongoing commitment to improving health locally and globally. Thank you for the vital work you do — and happy World Pharmacists Day!’
